Simon joined Mariners’ Chapel as our minister back in September 2016. He is currently a minister in training with the Baptist Union and studies at Spurgeon’s College two days a week. Simon has a passion to see people transformed by the power of the Gospel, and for God’s people to grow in their relationship with Jesus. He has a daughter named “Scout” and enjoys walking, cycling and classical music.
Rev. Paul Bowtell
With my wife Chris I retired to Rowhedge after nearly thirty years in London. We love the village, the sense of community here and the cooperation between various bodies including the strengthening links between Church [St Lawrence] and Chapel [Mariners’]. Together we run a support group for bereaved parents, enjoy our grandchildren and get out to enjoy the surrounding countryside as much as we can. Mariners’ Chapel is an amazing mix of wonderful people, all learning what it is to follow Jesus Christ, and we have made many friends. Paramount to us is that what we enjoy as Christians is not religion but a powerful relationship with a loving heavenly Father
I have been a member at Mariners since the early 1980’s, having moved to Rowhedge from London with my husband Joe. Rowhedge has been a fantastic environment to raise our family in and part of what adds to the richness of the village is the wonderful Mariners community! It has been such an important factor in the life of this village over the generations and to us as a family experiencing the fellowship, prayer and loving support that is found at Mariners – a wonderful testament of God’s love in action in this community.
When I’m not working, I love singing, trying to improve my guitar playing (mostly with little success), gardening, cooking and walking the woods and fields with Joe and the dogs!
